Soft as Wool
At the heart of all beauty lies something inhuman, and these hills, the softness of the sky, the outline of these trees at this very minute lose the illusory meaning with which we had clothed them, henceforth more remote than a lost paradise… that denseness and that strangeness of the world is absurd.
— Albert Camus
Some artists are redefining the sculptural limits of wool, and creating wearable and unusual art by playing with shape, texture, and functionality. Hisano Takei, for example, pushes the boundaries of what we would typically think of as a scarf by producing three-dimensional works that take on a life of their own. The soft property of wool allows for sensuous curves and an unusual conception of space.
